The De Tomaso Pantera is a true crossbreed of Italian and American engineering, as we know, the results are truly spectacular. Gianpaolo Dallara, a Lamborghini designer at the time, was selected by Alejandro De Tomaso to produce a brand new chassis for De Tomaso’s new mid-engine supercar. At the time, Alejandro De Tomaso was partnered with the Ford Motor Company, thus like his previous supercar the Mangusta, Alejandro turned to Ford when it came to the engine. The Pantera was powered by a 5.8 Litre Ford V8, it would do 0-60 mph in just over 5 seconds, impressive numbers for the 70’s. The spectacular coupe shape of this classic supercar was designed by Tom Tjaarda at Carrozzeria Ghia and built by Vignale; these two companies were part of Alejandro's empire at the time.
This Pantera has lived her life in the dry state of California most of her life. This classic car was resprayed in its original pearlescent silver quite recently. This car has new tires and a new water pump. At 26185 miles, the engine was fully rebuilt, currently, the odometer sits at 28000 miles. The magnesium wheels have also been refurbished by a specialist, the car truly shines, inside and out. As you can see, the car is fitted with the period correct small quarter bumpers. We can all agree they are a lot more aesthetically pleasing in comparison to the large black American bumpers.
This car comes with the original US title deed documentation as well as the current V5 registration document.
